First F-35Cs to Arrive at Naval Air Station Lemoore

The first F-35C stealth fighters are set to arrive next week at Naval Air Station Lemoore in California, the Navy announced.

Four of the fifth-generation aircraft made by Lockheed Martin Corp. will arrive Jan. 25 at the base in the central part of the state located between Los Angeles and San Francisco, according to a release Tuesday from the sea service.

Air Force Mulls Low-Cost Fighter Experiment

The Air Force intends to conduct an informal experiment of a potential light attack fighter aircraft the service could use in ongoing counterterrorism air campaigns, the service’s top general said Wednesday.

Chief of Staff Gen. David Goldfein said the Air Force is looking to programs such as Textron’s Scorpion to potentially provide an inexpensive fighter capable of performing close-air support missions.

Thirteen U.S. Soldiers Sentenced for Roles in Fraudulent Military Recruiting Bonus Scheme

Thirteen members of the Texas Guard have received their sentences for their roles in wide-ranging bribery and fraud schemes that caused more than $170,000 in losses to the United States.  Seven of those members were sentenced this past week in Houston.

F-35 Aircraft Costs Drop, Report Shows

WASHINGTON, March 25, 2015 – A recent account of F-35 Lightning II aircraft program costs shows decreases, the Air Force’s F-35 program executive officer told reporters in a media roundtable yesterday. Air Force Lt. Gen. Christopher C. Bogdan, citing this year’s selected acquisition report on the aircraft, called the roundtable to clarify cost and performance facts in the latest report, he said. He also acknowledged the program has been over budget and is six years late.
