VA’s repeated attempts to downplay the impact serious deficiencies

General News

WASHINGTON, D.C.— After the Office of Special Counsel released a letter to President Obama detailing VA’s repeated attempts to downplay the impact serious deficiencies in VA health care have had on patients, Chairman Miller released the following statement:

"In reality, the deaths of dozens of veterans across the country have been linked to delays in VA care and other severe department health care problems. But in the fantasy land inhabited by VA’s Office of the Medical Inspector, serious patient safety issues apparently have no impact on patient safety.  It's impossible to solve problems by whitewashing them or denying they exist. This is a lesson VA should have already learned as part of its delays in care crisis, but President Obama needs to help reiterate it to each and every VA employee to ensure the department’s focus is on pinpointing and solving problems, rather than downplaying them. In the meantime, OMI owes it to America’s veterans and American taxpayers to provide an immediate and thorough explanation as to why it keeps reaching the same implausible conclusions in one report after another." - Rep. Jeff Miller, Chairman, House Committee on Veterans' Affair

The website also has a news feed for those of you that follow my feeds here on Area Control. You might want to sign up to Matrix Today RSS Feed

Some of you that have been following Area Control knowI have been creating and testing new news sites for a while now,  I make them and delete them. Sorry it has taken me so long to get going but I have been testing different scripts that would be best for these projects. I believe this is the one.  After I finish fine tunning Matrix Today I will be implementing 2 other sites into Matrix Today. One will be located at the domain name:

I plan on creating a place on that website where users can log in and post their news stories for free. It will be kind of like iReport.

But first I will be creating a Satellite Zone for all of the satellite information like the live weather radar with live weather maps, Live earthquakes, Satellite images and more. It will be located at the domain name

At this time both these domain names are pointing to however when start editing them they will be pointed to their proper locations.

Thank you and I hope you enjoy my new websites.

DOD Initiatives Counter Mental Health Issues

General News

WASHINGTON, May 14, 2014 – Nearly one million cases of mental health conditions in service members were documented between 2000 and 2011, according to a senior psychologist with the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury.

In an interview with American Forces Press Service and the Pentagon Channel to mark Mental Health Awareness Month, Navy Capt. (Dr.) Anthony Arita, director, Deployment Health Clinical Center, said the 1 million cases recorded by the Armed Forces Health Surveillance Center show that mental health conditions are “quite common."

A Rand Corp. study in 2008 on the invisible wounds of war, such as post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injuries found one in five deployed service members returned home with significant psychological health and TBI symptoms “at a level warranting medical attention,” Arita said.
