Convicted Sex Offender Sentenced to Fifteen Years for Unlawfully Possessing a Firearm

General News

Tampa, FL – U.S. District Judge Mary S. Scriven sentenced Scott S. Boozer (49, Dundee) today to fifteen years in federal prison for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He pleaded guilty on June 11, 2012.

According to court documents, Boozer sold Oxycodone pills and two firearms to undercover law enforcement officers. At the time of the offense, Boozer had recently been released from the Florida Department of Corrections. Because of his prior felony convictions, Boozer is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition under federal law.

This case was investigated by the ATF. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Stacie B. Harris.

It is another case prosecuted as a part of the Department of Justice's "Project Safe Neighborhoods" program - a nationwide, gun-violence reduction strategy led by ATF. United States Attorney Robert E. O'Neill, along with Virginia O'Brien, Special Agent in Charge, ATF, is coordinating the Project Safe Neighborhoods effort here in the Middle District of Florida in cooperation with federal, state, and local law enforcement officials.
