Florida braces for Isaac

In Tampa Florida, final preparations for the Republican National Convention even as the state braces for tropical storm Isaac. Governor Rick Scott. SOUNDBITE: Florida Governor Rick Scott saying: "At this point, we don't see that we need to evacuate. Right now, right now, if you look at the forecast, it's a tropical storm.


 

They are going to get hurricane or tropical storm force winds at 2 o'cock or so on Sunday." Isaac is on a path to hit the state just as tens of thousands of Republicans gather to nominate Mitt Romney as their choice for White house. So far, there are no plans to postpone the four-day event but state and party officials are keeping a close watch on Isaac as it churns its way through Caribbean. After lashing the Dominican Republic with heavy rain and 45-mile-an hour winds on Friday, it is expected to gain strength as it moves towards the Gulf of Mexico.
